Get some asparagus!

You have probably noticed the come-back of these guys lately:

asparagusYay! Asparagus are a good sign that spring is knocking at our door. You should definitely have some, they will bring you plenty of good stuff such as:

  1. Tons of: fiber, folate, vitamins A, C, E and K, as well as chromium, a trace mineral that enhances the ability of insulin to transport glucose from the bloodstream into cells.
  2. A good amount of glutathione, a detoxifying compound that may help protect against and fight certain forms of cancer, such as bone, breast, colon, larynx and lung cancers.
  3. Antioxidants that will help slow the aging process.
  4. A good source of B12
  5. helping you get rid of excess salts in your body thanks to its diuretic function

According to me the best way to cook asparagus is to keep it simple without adding much salt, oil or sauces. You can either boil them or bake them with some garlic and pepper until they get tender (still crispy, don’t overcook!).
